I considered it, when looking for our pushchair/pram system. However, for me there were a couple of major drawbacks:

  • the seat (and the pram I think as well) 'separate' baby's legs - this can be uncomfortable and could make the baby cold in winter weather (legs are warmer together - i.e. just like mitts are generally warmer than gloves)
  • the seat is a bucket type, which is a bit weird when you want your LO to sleep - it tilts back instead of actually reclining. Just imagine yourself sleeping with your legs up in 90degree position...

We ended up choosing the Mutsy 4Rider in the end and we're really happy with it 9months on and counting...

We love ours - got it 2nd hand, both the carry cot bit and the main pushchair, find it great. We don't need to collapse it more than once a month though. DS sleeps in it quite happily, and I love chatting to him as we walk around. Very easy to handle, but not great for kerbs/steps.

hey millimollymoo.

our baby girls turns 13 months today and we've had her in the Stokke Xplory the entire time.

as far as the daily experience of 13months is concerned, it's a BRILLIANT pushchair.
I'm out and about all the time here in London, commuting to work and nursery by boat and with the bus, occasionally splashing out for a taxi when it's pouring....and the Stokke goes everywhere I go. we also travelled with it on the plane several times (using the chassis with a maxicosi on top). I could roll all the way up to the plane, had chassis taken from me, took car seat with baby inside and got Stokke chassis (unharmed!) back at the door when disembarking plane upon arrival.

the spread legs bit is not at all an issue for our little one and/because the Stokke footmuff keeps them warm and cozy. even in the very cold days this january, I never put more than tights on my baby on the way to nursery as it gets so warm in the footmuff.

and the seat also wins major points with us as the reclining position is completely flat, NOT with legs up in the air and the BIGGEST plus is the fact that if you turn the seat around it serves as perfect highchair in any restaurant we choose to have lunch with (DD is currently only half days in nursery so we spent lunchtime together).

Now with 13mons, we are looking at a 2nd lightweight buggy/stroller, just to throw in a trunk for the occ streetcar ride. as we dont use cars very often, the bulkiness (and yes, it is a bulky chassis) of the Stokke didnt cause any issues.

all in all: I'm VERY happy I bought it. would probably have managed w/o the carrycot as the MaxiCosi was just as good for those early days out. however, as DOB was in late Dec, we needed the proper hood to protect against the cold.

hope that helped

I second all that shoshanade says. We've had ours for more than four years now. It has done two DSs and is the only push chair we have. I love it and so have my boys.

Re the split legs, it hasn't been an issue. I put them in winter all in ones when they were little and didn't even bother with the foot muff (which we'd been lent).

And never had a problem with the seat - they've always appeared comfortable. It's great to be able to turn it into a highchair if there's nothing suitable available.

The baby bag / carry cot was fantastic when they were tiny and I used it as an extra downstairs cot during the day.

Only disadvantage was that it doesn't do mud, sand or snow very well, but that didn't worry me too greatly as I am not able to do much off-road walking.

In general it's fab for the right circumstances.

CAT me if you'd like more info.

If you are in an urban area then I totally recommend it! We had ours for almost 2 years and if I could have thought of a way to keep it I would have, but needed to sell it on to get a P&T's.

I loved ours and second everything the other posters have said. DS was always so cosy in both the footmuff and in the carrycot - the accessories are really well made and nice and thick. He was born in Feb and would even get sweaty feet in the footmuff so I wouldn't be concerned about that.

You will get alot of attention, but DS loved being so high up and I loved having him right there. I am dreading having a full time pram that faces away from me it just doesn't seem normal!

The ability to use it as a high chair for coffee shops etc is massivley handy - saves lots of faff and you'd be surprised how many places dont have child seats when you are eating.

It is quite faffy to fold up as you have to take off the seat unit/carry cot - I would say that is it's only real downfall. And it does take up quite a bit of room in the boot so check if you need to use it with a car. i just kept mine up most of the time though so not a problem.

Also, worth bearing in mind that we got ours for around £750.00 new, and sold it 2 years later for £450 on ebay. So £300 for 2 years with a top of the range pram is a pretty good bargain I think!

Oh I miss my Stokke... get one! You will not be disappointed!!!!

just love ours. couldn't recommend it more. yes i think on balance it is more of an urban buggy but no less than other similar ones eg the bugaboo.
