City Mini GT - Do I need the carrycot

Hi,

I am just about to buy the above and wonder if the carrycot is essential from birth or whether i can use a coccoon (similar to bugaboo bee). It is confusing me that it says 'suitable from birth' but that they sell carrycots...as it makes it a lot more expensive. Does anyone know at all?

Thanks

I think it's called suitable from birth because it reclines flat. I've got a city mini gt and I can't imagine a newborn in it and certainly not without some kind of cocoon for coziness but DS is my first and I don't know much about it really.

I had a different pram with a carrycot then switched to a city mini gt when DS was older. I love the GT but if I have another DC I'll buy the carrycot for it.

Thanks Naked. That's what I thought when I looked at it...looks so big for a teeny newborn! I think I will look into the carrycot option it just looks quite clunky with that on the top too but I guess it's not for all that long.

I have the gt. You can remove the seat fabric so it looks neater with the carrycot attached. Hope that helps.

I love the look of the gt with the fabrics off and the carrycot on. Definitely not as good if you leave the fabrics on.

I would say yes as well- we did try DD in it without a couple of times and she didn't seem supported enough. She was tiny though; if you have a big baby you might find they outgrow the carrycot quickly- it's not huge. They get a good price on ebay/gumtree though so you should recoup most of it.

If you're looking at the carrycot, do check out the new deluxe carrycot as well as the standard one. More expensive but bigger and much cosier and better quality IMO although is new so not that many available second hand yet.
