Hi all -

I am finally getting back into my running post-birth (DD is now 7mo) and have been sneakily jogging with my wonderful Vista. However, I am really enjoying it and now think I would make good use of a running buggy so am looking for any experiences/recommendations…

I tend to run up to 10km but would like to train for a half-marathon with my dh. I am only 5ft3 and dh is 6ft1, so the handlebar height would be an issue. We have a smallish house and car but I realise that running tyres do tend to big large. As mentioned earlier, we have a Vista and so it would be used purely for running.

Thanks!

No advice I'm afraid but I'd also like to hear people's thoughts on running buggies too!

Out n about nippers are fantastic. They do a sport model which often come on ebay from time to time if you didn't want to buy new but even the standard model is very good.

However, without meaning to be a party popper I'd just be aware that at 7 months old your baby might be happy to sit in the buggy for ages now but in a few months things might be very different! With dd being 20 months now I am lucky if he will sit in the pushchair for 20 mins - he wants to walk everywhere! So that's why I mentioned ebay really. I wouldn't spend loads getting a fancy sports model when your baby is just about to enter their most active stage.

But I may be wrong! :)

Both myself and my husband run with an out n about nipper sport. Really like it light enough and smooth to push. The handlebar height does adjust. We also use it as our 'holiday' buggy as if you take the wheels of it fits in a handy travel bag.
It is quite long and not the smallest fold with the wheels on.
We have had the nipper for almost 12 months, our 19 month old remains happy to go for a run. He is less happy to be in a pushchair at other times but will happily do a 6 mile run. This may not last.
Overall a good running option I would say.

Great - thanks guys… We have quite a little mover (standing and trying to walk at 7mo) so def good to have a warning, but also good to hear a positive experience… despite crawling everywhere she is still happy to lie in her bassinet and gaze/sleep while I run with the vista so fingers crossed. Looks like the nipper is v popular and good that it has an adjustable handle so will look into it.

All the DC's have enjoyed going at speed more than walking, I have an old baby jogger the same as the one in this blog. It's really light but it's better as the DC's get bigger as I think it was built to be as light as possible rather than super comfortable, I add a cushioned liner to the seat part. It runs like a bike because the wheels are so big. There is loads of leg room to stride out.

They didn't seem to do the nipper sport when DC1 was born but I have a nipper 360 for about town/walks etc and it is great (apparently you need a fixed wheel for running or else you can tip the buggy).
