What is the best cheap, light umbrella fold pushchair?

I've got a maclaren xlr but it's huge

Dd is 2.5 and quite big. I need something for the odd day out on public transport.

It needs to recline, she sometimes still naps and a raincover / hood

Would prefer a better quality second hand one rather than something rickety

Any suggestions?

I've always had a maclaren quest it's lighter and more compact then an xlr and folds down easily plus there are always a ton on eBay.

Thanks that's helpful. I've not figured out all the different maclarens. Is the quest the smallest?

I think it's one of the smallest yes

I think the Maclarens other than the Techno XLR and the Techno XT are pretty much all the same size. In terms of features, the Quest is the next one down from the Techno XT, but above the likes of the Truimph, Globetrotter, Volo etc.

I have a Quest (well I've had 2 actually!) and I really like it. It has an leg rest that is really handy to have for a young baby, and although I usually have it down now that DD2 is almost 2 I always put it back up if she's sleeping in the pram (for calf support, she looks more comfy sleeping that way). The Triumph/Globetrotter/Volo don't have the leg rest. The Quest models from 2012 onwards are suitable from birth and have a one-handed recline mechanism. The older ones do not recline as far back (they were suitable from 3 months) and you need 2 hands to recline them (well, almost 3 hands really, unless you want the baby to fall back suddenly!)

I'd definitely recommend the Quest.

The volo is the smallest and lightest maclaren. We have one for ds and it's brilliant. Still have the xlr which we use sometimes. It doesn't recline tho.

Sorry to interrupt the thread but does anyone know where you can buy a volo in the uk? I can't find one anywhere.
