Bugaboo Cameleon vs Silver Cross Wayfarer

Hi Mums I am expecting my first baby and I we are looking at Bugaboo Cameleon and the Silver Cross Wayferer. I have experience of working at Mothercare when I was younger and there was mixedreviews re Silver Cross products but realising its so much cheaper I just wondered if the Bugaboo was worth the extra?? Any help you can give I would really appreciate it. Thanks everyone xxxx

One word - wheels!
I am getting a Wayfarer next week, I think, and have had 2 Cameleon's. So I will reserve proper judgment until I have had a proper use of the Wayfarer (I have played with it a few times but not taken it out and about). But I think the wheels on the Wayfarer would decide for me. The Cameleon has much more versatility re where you go and what you can do with it wheel wise. The Wayfarer strikes me very much as an urban pushchair.

Thanks for this lovely!!!Can you report back and let me know what you think when you have it - im really torn! I know the Bugaboo so well but the Silver Cross to me looks just as good. I jsut dont want to get the Silver Cross and wish I got the Bugaboo but seeing as its almot half the price Its also such good value fo rmoney xxx

The thing I always look for is whether you see older children in the pushchair, as you often see 2-3 year olds in a bugaboo but never in an iCandy for example, as either they don't fit or parents have switched to something lighter and easier. If you want it to last, then have a look for this. Then again if you went for the cheaper option you would still have money in a year or two to change if the first wasn't suitable.

My 3 year old is happily being pushed around in his iCandy and his Bugaboo :) I know he has a couple of inches room for growth in the Wayfarer, hence buying one to try. I am hoping to pick it up tomorrow, and if not early next week.

I have a bugaboo and an unusually tall 2 year old DD. I love my Cameleon. It is so smooth and sturdy. It's lasted 2 years of daily usage up fairly muddy, hilly terrain and I've not had any problems with it. DD loves it - will often say to me "I'm going for a sleep in my pram". Well worth the money in my view but I have no experience of that Silver Cros model so no idea if it could be better!

I have my Wayfarer now and it is beautiful. However I stick with my view that its an Urban pushchair. We can't find any suspension (if its there you can't see or feel it). However its a very simple to use (compared to the Cameleon which can be a bit fiddly) pushchair with a large accessible basket, good quality fabrics, nice finish and handlebar and I really like it. They are very different pushchairs and TBH you really need to see them both!

Ok I apologise - Parties has just taken me to one side and pointed out there is suspension on the front wheels - and yes I can see it now, but only when you get to the wheels and push forwards. We couldn't see it working when we were pushing it. But yes it is there :)

Ok, theres no question - the Cameleon is definitely better. The manoeuverability of the Wayfarer is not what I would expect from a pushchair of this size. I struggle to tip up up at the front with the seat forward facing - I had a shock when I couldn't get it over the lip of my front door on the first outing! There is suspension ie the wheels bend (I assume when you go over a bump) but ordinarily you really can't feel or see it working. The lower joint near the basket seems to take the brunt of any jolts / pressing on the handlebar and that worries me. I had high hopes for the Wayfarer but believe me it wont be staying long! One of the shortest staying pushchairs I have had!

Buying a travel system for my first grandchild, and in these uncertain times I will be buying a silver cross system because it is made in the U.K. by a British company.

@OMGAJ that honestly means nothing, the wayfarer has rubbish wheels, the pioneer has a small seat and the Wave toddler seat isn't wide enough.

There are enough good reviews for all of the Silver Cross products, you may not like the products but it’s quite clear many do.

Another vote for the Wayfayrer. I had the Chelsea edition and I love mine
