What buggie for twins??? - HELP!!

Hi

I was just wondering if someone could give me a little bit of help and direction. I am 17 weeks pregnant, first pregnancy and it's twins. We are starting to look at pram options and I am completely bewildered really.

I know how important it is for babies to lie on their back initially and ideally i would like to be able to face my babies as well.

My real dilemma comes from finding a 3 in 1 pushchair on line (can only be bought through ebay or Amazon) which includes 2 car seats which are attachable to the chassis. I can can get everything on Ebay delivered for around £425... this is their website

I haven't managed to find any reviews other than 1 on Amazon so I am a little dubious about getting something like this when I don't know much about the company or their products.

My husband , Mum and I went to an independent shop yesterday to get a bit of advice. They hadn't heard of Pro-Cosmo at all. They didn't try to dissuade us from getting it but were surprised at how cheap it was and said to just be mindful if anything goes wrong with it.

They showed us the Bugaboo Donkey which I have to say does tick all the boxes and looks amazing but the prize astounded me, all inc with car seats etc... it is coming in at around £1200. Here is the link to it...

Any advice on the above or direction to any other prams which we might not have considered would be greatly appreciated. We feel a bit lost at the moment, we just want to get the right thing but also don't want to pay over the odds either.

Just had a look at those two you linked to. My initial thoughts are what happens if there's a fault and it needs repairing? Also the carseats-how safe are they and will they fit your car properly. You won't know without trying them.
Do you want side by side, or will a tandem work for you? Do you have to have the option of attaching carseats? Newborns are not meant to spend extended periods in the carseats.
I'm inclined to think, buy cheap, but twice!

We left the car seats in the car and had a nipper 360 double.
Didn't break the bank and was the best push chair ever (IMHO)

How about the Oyster max? It looks like a good option for twins and not as expensive as the Donkey.

It might be helpful to think about your lifestyle first and what you need the buggy to do.

Do you live in a town or city where pavements are good and you'll use public transport, or do you have a more outdoor lifestyle?

Think about whether a side-by-side or tandem is better suited to your needs - this will help narrow the choice.

For me, a travel system was a must. It was invaluable when nipping into places and I didn't want to transfer sleeping babies from car seat to carrycot / pushchair seat. I did use the carrycots when I was out for longer periods of time, but the option of dropping the car seats onto the chassis was invaluable for speed when going to the doctor's etc.

I agree with the poster above who suggests being wary when buying car seats. You must make sure they fit your car correctly. On a convenience note too, with twins, I found the isofix bases a godsend as it's so quick to clip and unclip the seats from the car speedily rather than using the seat belts, but I appreciate that adds to the price.

I personally have an iCandy peach blossom 2, which I love as it suits my lifestyle perfectly (although had the Pear 2 been launched I would have seriously considered that as it folds with the seats on and I am lazy)

That said, we're about to become a two pushchair family as DH wants one better off road for weekend walks with the dog . With twins I think it's quite hard to find the perfect pushchair so you will need to compromise somewhere along the line, but your starting point is to establish the must haves.

I agree with knackered cow, first of all decide on a list of requirements, but also think about your lifestyle:

do you mainly walk or drive (check buggy fits boot)

how wide your front door is, do you ahve storage for buggy, can you leave it in hall etc.

I also second the travel system bit. I used to do lots of short journeys by car (school run x2 and shops) so for me it was invaluable to be able to click the seats on the pushchair. I also had a v. narrow front door which ruled out side by sides. (I have since moved and got a side by side now).

I never buy a double pushchair unless its under 76.3cms wide - a standard old UK doorway. Believe me, there's nothing more frustrating than having 2 heavy older babies - even worse if they can crawl - and having to leave the pushchair outside baby clinic knowing you have a long corridor, several doorways to negotiate whilst juggling a changing bag and red books!

The Stroll Air is fabulous, but there are some good tandems too - B-Dual, iCandy Peach Blossom 2, iCandy Apple 2 Pear etc.

City mini double, with two carrycots, you can get carry cots second hand if the cost was an issue :) I love mine!

They would in 2 carrycots for the first 6 months :)

I have the Donkey with carrycots (we have carseats that stay in the car). The Donkey is great and well worth the money. For me anyway.
