Double buggy trouble - Out n'About Nipper vs Mountain Buggy Duet

I'm expecting twins in October and am trying to decide what buggy to buy. After looking at the new out n'about Nipper v.3 I've narrowed my choice down to either that or the Mountain Buggy Duet. My deciding decision is on whether it is useful to have the removable cots/car seats or not. I have a mix of friends that say no and some say yes. Anyone have any tips/thoughts? I'm stuck!

I have a bjcm double which is not one of the Prams you're considering but I've used it with and without a carry cot for my younger daughter. Pros of the carry cot: parent facing, baby is higher/nearer me, most importantly for me I can set the cot/baby down while I fold the pram or go to a play group and let the baby sleep, etc. It provides more protection for the baby from the weather. Cons: its heavy and bulky and won't last me all that long.
I will say when I went out today without the carry cot I really liked that with the hood down there was a window in the right position so I could easily keep an eye on the baby while I walked. I think the nipper might only have one window in the middle - I would want to check that I could see where both babies faces would be easily through it.

I considered both of the prams on your list and I would have gone with the nipper because it is so much lighter and lovely to push. In the end I had to go with an easy fold because of the stairs up to my flat.

The new nipper has carrycots.. or rather will have. Is it more carseat compatibility you're asking about?

I'm wondering whether it's worthwhile getting a buggy that is car seat/cot compatible or not. With the mountain buggy if you go for a drive and the babies fall asleep you can transfer the car seat directly to the buggy. If I went for the Nipper and I went for a drive and they fell asleep I'd have to pick them up and transfer them to the buggy which may mean I'll wake them up. Do you see this as an issue?

it never bothered me, i had a nipper when mine were small, if they're going straight into the pushchair quite often they stay asleep or just nod off again. for my older dd we had a pushchair the car seat fitted but unless it was a very short trip i wouldn't use the car seat anyway, it never looked comfy. (fairly sure i read somewhere since that they shouldn't spend too long in the car seat without a break)

what i didn't like about the nipper however were the flat tyres - i was caught out more than once - i eventually replaced it with a baby jogger city mini double - it isn't as light to push but i got so fed up with the nipper in the end that it was a definite upgrade. I also liked the separate hoods - saved on much bickering when they got bigger.

You can only use the car seats on the duet until the babies reach 9kgs, and if you swap to the seat fabric before then, then its harder to use the car seat adaptors anyway. For the short term gain, over long term user friendliness, I would go for the Nipper TBH. Just check for long harnesses on the Nipper and buy a narrow 72cms one (which the V3 one is) :)
