Uppababy Vista vs Baby Jogger Versa(18 Posts)
Hi IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat, just wanted to ask where you bought your Vista for £460? The lowest I can find the Cole for is £499. Lovely colour!! Thanks x
Yes, the carrycot, seat, car seat adapters etc. all the other colours were still £599. We don't know if we're having a boy or girl, but I am fine to use it for either. My boyfriend wanted the Jake originally which was a bit too macho for me with the black frame as well. It didn't mention it was ex-display or anything and I am assuming they would have to advertise the fact.
Trenchcoat that IS a bargain, well done! Did that price include the carrycot?
Ha, yeah the basket is a nice bonus. Nice to see about the dog walks as we have a dog who needs plenty of exercise.
Can't wait for it to be delivered now, on seeing it folded my boyfriend did the reassuring 'yeah I'm sure it will fit in the boot', I'm not so sure, it's not the smallest fold, once we are using the seat we will probably remove it to fold as it looks a bit more compact that way.
I have the Vista, was about to recommend it, until I seen you had ordered it.
My DS is 9 months, have no plans to replace it at all. It copes well with dog walks through the woods, city shopping (and it carries all your bags!) and everything in between.
I have taken it on buses and trains with no trouble.
Hello, just an update - I ordered the Vista, it really was a bargain (£460) so it made the decision a lot easier. I assume they had one in a colour being discontinued - the Cole Blue which is being replaced with the Taylor Indigo. In my mind this gives me £140 I have 'saved' and can therefore buy something frivolous with, or not feel quite as guilty if I buy something else.
I can see myself sticking with it though, it handled really well when I tried one out in the shop a few weeks ago. I am just the kind of person who second guesses every decision though, deciding is agony.
LOL at the instructions for the carrycot removal Tiggy. I have 4 nieces and nephews and my poor parents have struggled with the fold/unfold of every pushchair that has passed through their hands! Instructions will no doubt be needed!
LOL decision made I see!!
Both are excellent. If you prefer the Vista then go for it. I think you are more likely to ditch the Vista and buy an umbrella fold later, than you would with the Versa though.
The Vista carrycot is fabulous though. Its the nicest carrycot I have seen. Make sure you give grandparents instructions how to remove it if they babysit! Its not logical!
Versa GT has foam filled tyres.
Just to echo my shameless plug on the other thread - DO look at the Britax Affinity. I am going to happily put it on my top pushchair list alongside the Vista, Peach, Versa, Cameleon etc but its a fraction of the price. I have to say I am surprised just how GOOD the spec is on it and what you get for your money.
I have a vista and was worried about it being too wide but it doesn't seem much wider than other travel systems and has rarely caused me any problems (I don't live in London or use public transport though). I think the lovely carrycot and other great features outweigh any possible problems re size. However I am looking at getting an umbrella fold now - but I think any travel system becomes a bit too big when you've got a toddler
Ha, I'm not even getting drawn in to the Versa vs Versa GT debate, there's lots of threads on that topic too. I think I will probably go for a Vista, there's always next time for Baby Jogger - I was thinking of the City Mini 4 wheel too but am put off by lack of parent facing.
The normal versa has eva tyres, the gt versa has forever air tyres (ummmmm I'm not sure of the construction )
TrenchCoat are you me?! I've just started a thread called "BabyJogger Versa, Uppababy Vista or maybe BGB Chameleon?" - clearly I should have checked recent threads first...;)
I think you and I have pretty much the same requirements and in the same position although JL didn't have the carrycot in stock when we saw the Versa today, so I haven't actually seen that in person yet. Oh Lord i just googled for stuff on the Versa carrycot and got lost in this wormhole...:
...which isn't actually as down on the Versa as it sounds from the title (OP ends up v happy with it).
I thought the Versa had foam tyres but thinking about it, I'm not sure it does?
Bother, haven't got any... but there is a good set of photos here showing the seating positions, picture number 4 shows the seat parent facing and looking pretty upright. I don't think you need worry about it being too reclined anyway, even if it isn't as bolt upright as the Vista.
I had a Versa and I don't recall it being reclined... going to look back at some photos...
Thanks for your replies. I never even thought about the seat position chocolate but on some of the photos the Versa seat does look a little sloped back.
Rooty I actually had thought of the bee+ at one point if the cocoon made it lie flat enough for a newborn, but even though I too live in an upstairs flat, I don't live in a city. I need the pushchair to be suitable for around town but also dog walking. I think a 'normal' pushchair will suffice, definitely don't need an all-terrain type but something fairly rugged.
I think I am leaning towards the Vista for various reasons but I have been watching the video of the Bugaboo Buffalo from the Bugaboo HQ on YouTube and I love it! Thankfully it's out a bit late for me (I am due mid August and I don't think it's out till end of summer/autumn.
It's a nightmare isn't it. I agonised over the two you're describing but in the end backed away from the travel systems and went for the Bugaboo Bee. That's because we live up a flight of stairs in a tiny London flat. I have really loved it, my DD was a November baby and was cosy in her cocoon all winter, she still fits it at 6 months, so much longer than the avg carrycot and I've just pimped it out for her for summer with a furry lambskin and breezy sunshade (she can sit up now). I love it because it's light, narrow so handy for public transport, parent faces and lies flat, and I won't need to buy anything else as DD grows. I do not love it because the basket is not great, it is low down (and I am only 5'4") and it's a bumpy ride. Fine for us as we're in the city, and DD likes to be jostled. Wouldn't last a minute on anything more than your average park grass or cobbles.
If any of that applies to you, I would say save your money (we got our Bee second hand, a year old, like new, for £250).
But if you do need or can accommodate in your car / house something bigger and more robust, then it seems the key differences are the Versa fold (we actually never fold our pram) and the Uppababy seat position. I would love to have something that high. Someone on another thread posted a side by side comparison video that was great, I'll look for it.
Meant to say the carrycot stage is over in a flash. I never even had one, just used a sling
I've not owned these but I'd say the upright sitting position ob the vista for an older toddler is much better. I have a toddler who wants to be very upright, as many do from about 15 months on... But the fold on the versa is better. For me the seating position would swing it, and neither are that narrow. I was having similar dilemmas recently so I did try the versa & vista. Bought a cam3 in the end which I love.
I think I have discounted the iCandy Peach 2 finally and am down to the above 2 choices. Can anybody help push me to make a decision?
My local pram shop has a good deal on the Uppababy Vista which would make it really good value considering the carrycot and covers etc. are included anyway with the Vista package. I have looked at the pram, my boyfriend and I are very keen, but I keep thinking of just how wide it is!
On the plus side I love the carrycot, especially the suitability for overnight sleeping, and getting the system for a bit cheaper means I won't shed as many tears if I end up with an umbrella fold a few months down the line.
I have only seen the Baby Jogger Versa very briefly in person in John Lewis when I was about 4 weeks pregnant and it was far too early to look at pushchairs but the excitement got to us. We didn't try it out so have only seen video reviews on YouTube. I love the Versa, the fold looks great, the spec is great but I hate the carrycot. (my boyfriend compared it, rather accurately in my opinion to a nylon sports hold all!).
If I could have the Versa chassis and body with the lovely Vista carrycot I would, but it's sadly not an option. I keep thinking the baby would be in the carrycot a short amount of time so I should go for the Versa but I don't know. The Carrycot doesn't actually look too bad when attached but definitely has the air of sports hold all when not attached like this.
So, should I discount my vanity and go for the Versa? I do really like the Vista so do not know which way to go. The specs for both pushchairs are really good and seem quite similar.
