casualplay livi - when's it due out?(33 Posts)
Hi, does anyone know when the UK release is? I emailed the company a couple of weeks ago but they haven't replied.
also, does anyone know if it be folded with one hand? I'm trying to decide between the livi and a babyzen yoyo.
Nam your Livi now has a very happy home with me! I have to say I love it. Parties had a good look over it, and told me it was right up my street (well it was up hers too but she's got enough toys) and so she kindly brought it to me this weekend.
I have been out with it this week and love it. Its bigger than the YoYo - but I knew this - and it brings with it advantages such as a bigger seat size, calf rest, bigger basket (I got 3 lunchboxes and my handbag in it today) which makes it better for a holiday. I find the fold clasp hard to push off, and TBH I have taken to folding the Livi and just putting it in the boot without the fold strap on. That way, its easy to slide out of the car with it almost open by the time it hits the floor.
What did surprise me - probably ironic considering I am comparing the Livi to the YoYo - is that the Livi fold is very very similar to the start of the Recaro Babyzen ie fold the hood down and then the handle. I do find having to put the hood down a bit of a pain, but the actual folding movement is easier than the YoYo which needs a bit of a flick of the wrist.
Its probably very excessive to have a Livi and a YoYo in the boot of the car! I will take some side by side photos when I get chance. They are both totally my type of pushchair! I just wish you had bought black ;)
If I didn't have to make sure I could open and close the buggy one handed l would be keeping it. closing it two handed is very easy, i just don't think i can juggle holding DS, squating down and leaning over to pull the locking strap whilst pushing the buggy toward the strap with my other hand.
It definitely has a lot going for it and is still a compact fold, smaller than just the chassis for the vista, it was just taller folded than i had imagined from the video.
If anyone is interested in buying it let me know. I'm not sure how much i'd want for it - i would have to chat with DH, or I could put it on ebay
Tis true, most especially something that's suitable from newborn.
I have just been looking at the measurements for the Livi and the YoYo and TBH the YoYo isnt that much smaller although the top of the YoYo is more open when folded IYKWIM.
Livi: 48.5 x 59.5 x 30 cms
YoYo: 44 x 52 x 18 cms
So yes the YoYo is slimmer by 22cms, but the other measurements arent far off the same as the Livi.
Certainly the Livi has more to offer eg seat size, recline options, lift up calf rest etc. It is definitely a more substantial pushchair.
But the YoYo does have the autolock and is one handed once you have done the top handle fold (and the child can stay in at that point). But you do have to get down low to do the final part of the YoYo fold.
I think as you say there are pros and cons. I think the Livi will obviously be more suitable for anyone with a newborn, and like you say, you could use a snug insert to make it feel more secure. I think the Livi may also appeal to anyone with an older child who wants a longer seat back.
I would love to see the two pushchairs side by side TBH.
The fold sounds really disappointing
I didnt think the fold was that big when we saw it. Certainly there is very little which folds down to that size.
Sorry Tiggywunkle I didn't see your last post.
Yes the seat is a decent size and it reclines pretty far back. Not completely flat but almost there.
If I'd kept it and had another baby I would probably have put the snug seat we got for the Vista on the Livi so there was more support for a very little one but I think then it would have been fine.
That's actually one of the reasons I will be sad to part with the Livi as i know the shelf like of the yoyo will be shorter.
I can only hope that by the time I'm in a psoition to need a buggy I can open and close one handed and have DC2 that something else has come out, or that DC2 likes a sling/carrier better than DS did/does.
I've had another play and have decided that I should probably look for something else. I keep trying to persuade myself it would be ok but in reality if I was in a shop deciding whether to buy it I probably wouldn't be getting out my cards.
I tried squeezing the buggy against my leg to close it but you end up pressing the hard metal bar that the brake is on into your shin so that's not really a goer. There is so little slack in the locking strap you really do need both hands to do it up and to undo it and this also involves bending down quite far which wouldn't be any good holding DS. I did also get some velcro one tape to see if I could rig up my own closing strap but that didn't work either.
There is a bit of suspension on the front wheels but I can't see any on the back. Obviously I haven't taken the buggy out so I have no idea how well the front suspension works.
The seat back doesn't go completely upright, so not 90 degrees from the seat base. It's nore like 110 degrees or so. DS seemed happy enough at that angle because the sides are very open compared to the Vista seat so he could see out really well.
I haven't fallen in love with the Livi and I won't be tearful to sell it because it doesn't do what I need re opening and closing but I don't dislike it. I'm no expert like you and Tiggy but IMHO it seems like a nice enough little buggy and I'm sure some people would really like it. The only other thing that I was a bit disappointed with was that the fold wasn't as small as I had imagined but that's not the buggy's fault!
The only question now is how much should I sell it for? I paid £198.
Hmm...that seems a bit of a mixed review. We liked it because it seemed more like a bigger pushchair (including the UK versions being suitable from birth which the YoYo isn't) to offer an alternative to the YoYo for newborns or for those who grumble the YoYo seat is too short.
I hope you can resolve the fold issue. That seems a bit of a big niggle.
There is a bit of flex in most pushchairs - even the YoYo has a small amount although not as much as some. Like you say, they should have tested it.
waits in queue with Parties if you dont like it [wunk]
Could you close it against your leg to engage the lock with one hand, instead of using two hands?
Also does it have any suspension?
How upright is the most upright position?
If you do end up deciding you want something else me n tiggy are still standing here in our litte queue
Hi, sorry DS's teeth had other plans for me!
Well, I like it ok but I haven't fallen in love with it and am still not quite sure it will do what i need it to do....let me explain...
you can fold the handle first and then the hood and it is all easy to do one handed but the lock isn't an autolock and you do need two hands to squeeze the livi together in order to put the locking strap in place.without the lock in place the buggy just slides right open and doesn't self stand. I'm wondering if i might be able to figure out another way to get it closed, otherwise i may have to part with it and get a yoyo.
its not a bad little buggy though. its a bit bigger than i thought i would be folded. in the video it looks like it comes up to the lady's knee but she must be quite tall as it comes higher up on my thigh than that. i think also id read somewhere about it being briefcase sized- must have been a big briefcase. having said that, it is a compact fold, it's just not a yoyo fold.
it looks nice, I've never been a big fan of small umbrella fold types and the livi looks more substantial, more like a small travel system type buggy.
the seat it nice and wide but not massively deep, better than the noa i tested but not anything like the vista seat. there is a tiny pull out calf support bit which means DS's little baby legs don't dangle which I like and the seat reclines right back so would be good for naps- the strap recline is a bit stiffer than you'd think from the video.
From what i can tell doing circuits in the house, it pushes easily one handed and it has a very strong brake. the handle height isn't adjustable but both me (5ft6) and DH (6ft) found it comfortable to push.
it generally seems.sturdy but there is a bit of flex in the top part of the handle, from where it folds upward, which DH wondered about for going up kerbs when DS is older but I'm sure they would have tested that.
the basket and the hood are both a decent size for a little stroller and the basket is easy to access even with the seat reclined.
i do quite like it but i haven't danced around the living room over it, I'm not sure i would have or not had it locked more easily or stood without the lock on.
i may test a velcro strap on it to see if.that could work.
let me know if there are other things you want to know about.
lol at Parties. I am sat on the edge of my seat waiting too.
<pathetic whiney voice> nam are you theeeeeere? Did you open it yet? What do you think??
OOhhhh me too...get it open!!
I heard today that the Livi might not be here until early next year now
I was unreasonably excited when i saw this thread at the top, keep us informed
The Livi just turned up! I'll have a play later or tomorrow and let you know if it fits the bill.
The Livi is due in September (although do not take that gospel as dates in pushchair land can change all the time!)
Looking forward to hearing about it even though I've just ordered my YoYo because Tiggy told me to!!
I debated between the red and the brown and ordered a brown one in the end, i thought it would be a safer option as the red is called flamingo and i wasn't sure ds would appreciate it if it turned out to be pink!
I hope I'll like it, i only have the uppababy vista to properly compare it with other than things i tried in the shops but ill make another post when I've had a play to let you know what i think.
Best Buggy needs to get their hands on a Livi first to do side by side pics
Just get a YoYo ordered!
I was so set on the yoyo but something is making me hold back. When I first saw the livi on youtube I didn't like it enough to not buy the yoyo but having watched the vid again it's become a contender! I need some bestbuggy side by side pics I think. Or maybe I should just order the yoyo and step away from the pushchair threads!!
Ooohhh lucky you! I will stand in line for the Livi if you dont like it. I hope you are happy with it though!
Right, the lady told me about the tax, i must have forgotten to include that bit. Oops. I'm excited.. far more than i should be about someone else's pushchair. What colour did you get?
I've placed my order. It was pretty easy with a bit of help from Google Translate.
I thought the price was going to be more but that was Spanish tax and when i entered where my address was the price changed. It's cost me approx £198 to buy and should be here in the next week, feeling quite excited now!
Of course I'll let you know what I think, thanks again for the link.
Excellent! Please please please let us know how you get on, the livi is very much on my list :-)
Right, decision made.
I'm crossing my fingers and toes and ordering a livi.
The yoyo doesn't meet the cabin baggage requirements of most airlines flying out of Bristol or Cardiff anyway so unless i can't fold the livi I'm struggling to see why Id pay the extra - the smaller fold and weight won't make that much difference on the bus or in the car.
Off to make an order :-)
