Apologise for anybody who is looking for product reviews but I really need to get this off my chest. As a massive Royals fan, i'm gutted that there are rumours about Kate buying a Bugaboo, a dutch product, when her and William are supposed to be 'british business ambassadors'. With the recession still going on, all british businesses need a helping hand.

I've been following the royals for so many years, ii was in london for the wedding 2 years ago, and last year for the diamond jubilee. Absolutely love them all to bits but gutted to hear this when i woke up.

Really hope these rumours aren't true!

why on earth can't they just buy the pram that best suits their needs? Why are you so "gutted" about this? What difference does it make to your life whether their nanny pushes the child around in a Bugaboo or an Icandy? Be "gutted" about the people who died in that factory - that is much worse news to wake up to. Do you only buy british produced stuff? never shop in Primark?

This is a bit daft. Why do you even care what pram she uses? Hmm

She's picked a hugely successful brand and ensured she has the same pram as her mates and 90% of the other mums in Kensington. If a British manufacturer made as good and popular product I expect she would have bought that.

You're gutted, about something that may not be true and that has absolutely no bearing on your life?

Phhhhhh

Are there any good British manufacturers?? I'm surprised she's gone for a bugaboo though as they're quite low down & she & William are both tall. Other than that though its entirely up to them what buggy they buy.

"gutted to hear this"

I think you should probably get out more Dear.

My tall friend liked our Bugaboo because of the adjustable handle. Sadly I suspect the real selling point will have been that you can really conceal the baby in it. Less likely to get good paparazzi photos.
I wonder if she went for the donkey. The DM will have a field day 'Kate plans baby number 2!!!'

Grin I was pretty devestated to hear this too, I don't know how I'm going to make it through the day without crying again.

You were so gutted about Kate's pram choice you joined MN specially to discuss it? You probably need a new hobby.

TBH the British economy is so heavily interlinked with the Eurozone that we should be glad she's doing her bit to support the Euro. Perhaps the Dutch royals sent it to her as part of their coronation celebrations?

if I were a British pram manufacturer I might feel the same but I would have been clued up enough to make her the gift of one of mine - good publicity.

Really though do we have to find fault with everything she does?

Why should we buy some of the shoddy overpriced rubbish just because its British?

Is Cross still British? Great big boats of a pram. My mum was desparete to but us one - I did point out that it was bigger than our flat and no way would it even it fit through the door.

Bugaboos are great for folding to go in a hall or car boot, bouncing up flights of stairs and manoevering around the supermarket, none of which I can imagine them doing!

Sorry if I?ve offended anyone, as a mum I get where you?re all coming from, of course the baby?s safety and comfort is the main priority no matter what the brand is but as a massive royals fan, I follow them really closely and as british business ambassadors I was just surprised at these rumours.
I love Kate and everything she represents and this post wasn?t written to insult her or anyone else, it was just my opinion about the rumours.
Can?t wait to see if she has a boy or a girl! Really exciting times for us royal fans Smile

I wonder how much she will use it? I imagined she (or her nanny) would be pushing a family antique silver cross round palace grounds. day to day I would have thought she will be driven to most places and be like celebs carrying her baby.

I wish I could get a bugaboo, my friend was playing with the neon bee in John Lewis and I was quite quite jealous.

What are the British pushchair brands?

Report
Lozzabelle · 30/04/2013 11:40

Some british brands that come to mind are silver cross, icandy, maclaran and i think mamas and papas are also british. she may use it more than we think if she's reportedly going to be living with her mum for 6 months.

Is this honestly even an issue for anyone other than the two of them?

I suppose they should have a british computer, british tv, british mobile phone too?
