Pushchair sunshade/parasol for a toddler

What do you do about a sunshade for a toddler in a pushchair? DS is 14 m.o. and I have a Teutonia Spirit with him rear facing.

I used the parasol today, but it was really annoying as it meant that either I couldn't see him to tell him about the things he was looking at, or he couldn't see the things he wanted to. We spend a lot of time out in the pushchair, all of it chatting about everything we're looking at.

I have a Shade-A-Babe thing which goes over the hood and right down to the feet, but I have a feeling he'll get cross with that as he likes to be able to stick his hand out and touch things (I don't strap him in), and it's difficult for me to see him properly through it.

Can anyone suggest any other type of sun shade which might be better?

Have you tried a protect a bub?

I used one before but couldn't really get on with it. I am thinking of trying one again, but can't remember if it was any good on my rear facing pushchair.

Ah, that looks much better than the sort of thing I've got - thanks. :)

Is your son strapped in at all? Shock

I know it may seem a bit dramatic but I have seen a few children injured (2 seriously) through not being strapped into their pushchairs at all or not properly.

Please don't leave your child unstrapped so he can touch things or look out, one of the children I mentioned managed to fall over the side of a big pushchair rear facing becasue he was looking out and ended up with a broken wrist and a split eye. The other managed to reach out to touch a fence which inevitably led to the mother pushing the child along not realising the hand was caught in railing and again a dislocated arm later...

It si a risk not worth taking IMO.

I can't help with teh sunshade as my DS would pull any off regadless of the style Hmm
