off road buggy help

Husband thinks I have lost the plot but really think we need yet another buggy (have a cameleon used most of the time, a petite star zia for going away with full car and for my mum to use and an obaby stroller we were given which is in the cupboard awaiting transfer to live in my parent's holiday home in italy). Anyway the bugaboo is crap off road (well it's fine in the dry but not in woods/fields in winter)and I'm trying to get fit and as madam has decided she detests the backpack carrier I'd like to be able to go out foir a decent walk across the fields without stopping every 2 mins to poke the mud/leaves out of the small wheels

I've been looking online and mountain buggy seems to be one of the frontrunners but the terrain version is £600 and there's no way I can spend that. ebay has tons but mostly mountain buggy urban - will this do a walk in a field/woods? Iknow i could sell the bugaboo but I love it and might have another baby who would use it

Anyone like to recommend a suitable buggy?

I bought a Mountain Buggy Terrain on Ebay last month for £35. It is old but fantastic. Just keep looking on Ebay. Nippers are also very good.

I had an urban and it went everywhere absolutely fine... Very occasionally fixed the front wheel if going over very rutted or rocky ground - but normally didn't bother. Goes through axel-deep mud, foot high grass with ease.... And end up simply pushing it down flights of steps rather than carefully lowering as ds liked the bumps Grin

Thanks saroise for doing links. It's tricky when on laptop.

love my old landrover, so light and copes with any terrain, steps and even shopping! Hold their value on ebay.

Haven't you got the snow wheels for your bugaboo? I found mine brilliant off road with these. Even on rough muddy and boggy terrain. Much less costly than getting another buggy and doesn't take up much room when stored.

Big wheels like the back wheels that click in where the smaller front wheels go.
Just Google bugaboo snow wheels or bugaboo terrain wheels. They cost about fifty pounds.
They are fixed wheel not swivel and I find them excellent for off road activities. I prefer these to pulling the buggy in two wheel mode.
I honestly don't think you really need the off road buggy if you have a cameleon already. X

just looked on line - I think I need to spend £50 for a pair of off road bugaboo front wheels not a new buggy. hooray off to do some shopping

Fab - so glad to have helped. Grin

I have been down the "different buggy for each activity" route - it's costly - but more than anything - you just get wound up finding the storage space - and also transferring stuff from the basket beneath all the time too.

I've honestly tried just about every other style/type of buggy (over 18 years and four kids!), and the Cameleon is the best "all round" that fits most needs.

The off road wheels really do make it good for muddy walks and over rough terrain, it was actually fine - not that much different from the 3-wheeler I used to have - and I just love to have the one piece of equipment that does all activities! Also, I can still have DS facing me in the Bugaboo - which I couldn't with previously tried 3-wheelers!

PS - I was also impressed with the ease with which the mud just wiped off afterwards too - and I have the sand base covers - it looked spotless again after a brief wipe-over!
