Another P&T thread - sorry.....Vibe vs Sport

My DD will be 2yrs 4 months when my baby is born in December. We went to look at double buggies today and think P&T is going to be the best for us.

Our main problems if DD is rather tall for her age. We did have an icandy apple which we wanted to convert to a pear but he head rubs on the hood.

We tried the Phil and Ted sport and were gutted to realise there was the same problem when the cocoon was in place - her head was right on the top of the hood.

The Vibe was much better in cocoon mode but I've since read on many reviews that the Sport has more room in the back when in doubles mode.

Baby will be born in Dec (winter) and so we'll need the hood up most times for my DD so can't get away with not bothering. Also, I don't know how long baby will be in the cocoon as DD was very long as a baby and outgrew her moses basket quicker than most but don't want her sat up in the back too early - want her as flat as possible.

Decisions!! Want both children to be as comfy as possible but doesn't seem to be an answer. Any experience from any of you with the vibe or sport and room for children?

Any other feedback gratefully received.

Thanks.

Do you need a double do you put her in the pushchair a lot. Unless you don't drive could you get away with a buggy board of pod and use what ever you used with your first. You could have a good look at doubles to see what is about and wait and see. These things come in a matter of days and you also have the January sales. You may be a fine with a sling and then a buggy board. Would be a chame to spend all that money and then not really need it children grow up so much she may want to walk everywhere

I have had a Sport and a Vibe. We got the Sport when DD2 was 2 1/2, she was 90cms tall (I remember it well) and just got her head under the hood, we used it for 6 months then she refused to get in it so I sold it (to a lovely MNer).

DD3 was 22 months when DS was born 12 weeks ago we have a Vibe. DS has already grown out the cocoon, he's a big lad but is fine in the back with the seat reclined, you are right though there is not much room in the back and I doubt a big toddler would be comfortable.

I would probably say I prefer the Vibe to the Sport but it is a big heavy pram, hard to fold in and out a boot (takes a fair bit of space up), no space on it for bags etc, the raincover is a pain. TBH I am looking forward to the day DD3 walks everywhere and I can get a single again.

If your DD is tall she won't fit under the ood of the Sport. In your position I would recommend the Vibe but you may end up hating it, does that make sense?

my dd1 is 2 and a half and i used my sport once and am getting rid of it, wouldnt go for vibe, am going to try a side by side or just get a single...i hated not being able to get dd2 in and out easily from under top seat, my dd1 looked uncomfy in it on top and hood skimmed head but legs just seemed to dangle uncomfortably when asleep, prob been ok once in doubles mode but need to leave house now dp paternity just ended so not about to wait for baby to big enough to use doubles seat.....and cocoon not stable enough for me or accessible also need storage space....would rather use side by side and chuck shopping/toddler in and out spare seat than another tandem. see my thread nipper vs bjcm double for more of a rant! the sales lady did say the vibe was more comfy for the older child than the sport when doubles seat above coccoon when i went back to look at other buggys! then she recommended the babyjooger city mini double or nipper if i didnt mind the faffy fold. the cocoon is nicely laid flat on p and t sport but i personally didnt like how it swung hammock like side to side with every little bump on pavement, although i know some people swear by them it just wasnt for me, like marmite i suppose!

same problem here and although have kept P&T to use as a single off road I have decided against using it as a double and got an out n about nipper double, it weighs the same as P&T, pushes better and DD1 loves it already. there is also more sun protection (none in back seat of P&T)

mummyistheword DD1 will be 3 the week before DD2 is due. DD1 walks quite happily but also rides when she likes, is used to having the option and still sleeps on a long day out. I did debate not bothering with a double but then decided that I didn't want DD1 to feel pushed out or to restrict myself when out. I do walk a lot with the dog and like you have to be out of the house or I would go mad! Had horrible images of setting out on a walk, getting half way, DD1 whining that her legs ached, DD2 screaming coz hungry and the dog crapping on the pavement all at the same time - debate in selfs head over and nipper ordered will sell on ebay when finished with it!
