Having a wobble about my marmoleum floor

.... after our builder had an attack of sneering when I told him my intentions re: flooring.

He started laughing - said it would look like a hospital, and that he wouldn't want to fit it himself because he doesn't like it.

I appreciate that he's just a builder and not a n interior design guru, but I looked at my marmoleum samples and started to think about hospital corridors.......

I really, really can't make up my mind about my floors, and I've got to make a decision in the next few days.

Don't want stone/porcelain etc as I can't afford underfloor heating and my house is arctic anyway. Can't afford polished concrete or a decent wood floor. Don't like laminates and think that Amtico is over priced for what it is.

Help!

I want marmoleum - but it won't be particularily warm - I was going to put underfloor heating under mine

I love our marmoleum, it is warm and imo it looks classic and beautiful - we have a marbled-look one. It's also uber-green... I think you do need someone who is familiar to fit it properly though... go for it, I say!

Standandeliver have you considered the solid colour croc skin effect marmoleum? Dark brown, 'greige' taupe and red I think.... maybe white? Currently considering it for bathroom.

I wanted marmoleum - very attractive and practical too. I expect your builder has only seen it in hospitals and so doesn't know what it would really look like.
