Anyone know Wendover?

We've seen a house we like but don't really know the area very well.

Whereever I was buying a house - I would sitin a car in the street on a

Saturday night

At 3pm on a ter time weekday

Try driving from the house to workplace at 8.30 and 5.30 etc

This way you find out what the place is really like

Anyway, I'm in Ireland but my db lives over in England and works in london

he recently moved to WENDOVER!

He lives just off Dobbins lane which is just off the Main St.

lo and db used to walk to teh bakery alone( gasp at about 4) to get bread

We leave nearby in {not so nice) Chesham, but dh goes to a sailing club in Wendover and it's very nice, IMO. Bit too posh for my liking, personally, but the schools are good and people are generally very friendly.

Move there! Its bloody lovely. The chocolate shop (hand made chocs and cafe - Rumseys - they are online), the antiques shops, lovely places for lunch, a nice sugarcraft shop, nice clothes shops, great villagey pubs. And 3 minute drive to Wendover Woods which does fabulous childrens things, with a nice cafe.

Believe it or not, we can get more for our money out there than where we are at the moment in the fact that it's a very nice area and the schools look very good. I do feel quite fortunate that we can afford something there although only just, believe me!

Yes - lovely place but services of all sorts are shite and assume you are loaded and can drive. If you don't fit that it can be very isolating. But nice village-style spirit.

Local schools not bad if your offspring pass the 11+ but some used to rest on their laurels quite a bit and be quite snotty.

We are moving to wendover mid may. Will be moving with 3 year old daughter if anyone knows anyone with kids that sort of age for a play date? bit about us...im 37 year old who's working in tv industry as producer for years, now at the open university commissioning their video production. born in london, lived in watford last 8 years, love where we are but moving to wendover for nicer area/more rural upbringing for our daughter. have lots of friends in london/watford but keen to make some new friends in wendover so my daughter (only child) can have playdates - she's very sociable!

Wendover is lovely. I used to live in Aston Clinton. If I were still in Bucks I would move there in a heartbeat!

Wendover is lovely.....a typical Chilterns village. Individual shops, beautiful properties, the main high street has 'Number one' shop which sells unique home and giftware, there is an independent florist who takes the time to get to know you, there's a Budgens, Post Office, that yummy chocolate shop as previously mentioned and a few clothes shops.

A couple of pubs and the Chinese & Indian restaurants both have an enviable reputation.

Enjoy the Chilterns tranquility before the HS2 runs through people's back gardens there undeservedly & unjustifiably.
