Painting a rainbow mural....is it doable?

I'm supposed to be sorting out my daughter's room. Not yet but soonish. And she asked me to paint a rainbow on one wall. I must have had a rush of blood to the head because I said, "yes, of course." Can it be done? Some sort of stencil thing? I'm not very arts and crafty but I'm willing to have a go.

Okay, what you need to do is put a small nail in the wall and tie a long piece of string to it (as long as the top arch of your rainbow) plus enough to tie it round a pencil. Get an HB pencil and make sure it's sharp. Tie it to the string and do arcs - evenly spaced if you can. If you want the rainbow to go to the bottom of the wall, put the nail into the skirting board. I'd use acrylic paints to do the colours - you can buy them in WHSmith

yes. i did this when the DDs were little. used string and a pin in the wll. did green for grass on the bottom, blue for sky on the top. clouds and bright bloody flowers. was a bit like a cross between the teletubbies and some weirdy mushroom trip. beautiful.

thonk that should have been bright blobby flowers not bloody ons. that would have been really weird.

Thanks for this. I might go for the sticker option but I'd like to see your pics DisasterEggs. There "this" didn't make a link.

There is a rainbow sticker in the next catalogue in the children's section which I am planning to purchase for DD. I have just put some space stickers on DS's wall which worked brilliantly and took about 10 minutes. I am completely un-arty so don't really trust myself with a paintbrush......
