Reopening chimney

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to reopen chimney so I can have an open fire or get a stove installed. The previous owners seem to have filled the chimney pots with concrete and they had old electric fires in the fireplaces

They would have to partly knock it down, install a concrete lintel and make good. It depends on the size of your chimney breast though.

I had that done a few years ago. Mine was about 1.5 metre wide, It cost me about £500.

It may also need lining.

Open fires are a big two fingers to the planet, please go for a stove.

That doesn't sound too bad, bit of a pain but it's an old house and can be fairly cold. Would prefer a stove but the fireplaces are fairly small and would need to see how much space is there once we remove tiles and existing surround.
