Contemporary kitchen with black worktop on island

In the process of renovating a house and currently choosing a kitchen. I have concluded that I need a black (or near enough) worktop for my island with the hobs as all else light coloured worktops stain (I have bought home samples of quartz etc and left turmeric on it and it has left a stain).

I want to achieve a very contemporary look, with floor to ceilings units, handleless, housing integrated fridge freezer and some ovens. An island in front with integrated hobs, very minimalistic etc. Does anyone have this type of kitchen, and what units did you go for with a black worktop? I like the combination of wood effect units with white units but they all have white worktops. So looking for contemporary colour schemes with black worktops, have googled and searched Pinterest but haven't seen anything I like the look of.

We stayed in a nice Airbnb in Barcelona which had a mixture of white gloss and wood veneer units with a slate type worktop - I don't normally like dark worktops but it was lovely. Will try and find a pic from Airbnb.

Looking at it I think it is the mix of doors and the thinness of the worktop which makes it contemporary and not plain.

Unless you've made your mind up with the black, I would get a few more quartz samples - perhaps different brands. I have had 2 different brands of quartz in a very very light grey (not quite white but not far off) and they've not stained. I think the look you're trying to achieve will be more difficult with black, I think the wood + black granite worktop is quite a "classic" look rather than a contemporary look, and if the only reluctance to go lighter is due to staining, I'd keep looking for a better quality quartz.

It's not exactly a minimalist kitchen, but it was the inspiration for my kitchen design and ticks a lot of your boxes...

You can get honed ( i think that is the word) that is matt black - almost looks like black concrete

We went for a wood effect laminate black work top, which sits on a classic oak shaker. It's a duropal dark mountain oak, it's lovely but only available online.

Corian copes with turmeric well. Just use Cif to clean it off !

Take your turmeric into a studio and ask to test it there ?! Could be an interesting thing to do !!

My new kitchen photo attached. Not handleless and not contemporary units. We went for grey quartz with a metallic fleck as it doesn't show up watermarks and doesn't require loads of buffing/drying to look reasonable.

We have grey units from how dens that look sage green in some lights. We have a black silestone worktop which has shiny bits in but more mirrored that Quartz so not like crystals-alonso advertised it.

We've just done ours with cream high gloss handle less units and black granite work tops. Very contemporary and looks great. Most places you pick the units and work tops seperatly, so can have any colour combination you like.

I prefer granite to quartz, as quartz doesn't have the same depth and is quite flat, even with the shiny bits added. My friend however prefers quartz!

I would go for black units if you're having black tops as black tops with white or wood units looks a bit dated IMO.
