Hi everyone,
We are looking to move to Tonbridge from London. DD is in Year3. Does Slade primary offer in-year places ? We found a house about 0.4 miles from the school - we plan to view it again this week and put down the deposit (renting).
How is the area near the golf centre - particularly Garden Road, Mill lane and Kendal drive (to buy)

Also made an off on a house in Tonbridge. Don't know it very well, but when I've been walking about to get the feel of the place, I noticed that Garden road etc is about 5 minutes from open countryside and the river Medway. It's also near the A26 but it didn't strike me as especially busy, certainly not by London standards - however that was in the morning, not the evening. The area immediately by the Golf centre is a bit 'trading estate', but, once again, its tiny compared to similar areas in London.

Thanks . Did the area feel safe? Chavvy? Garden road looks a bit run down on the streetview.

we rented in Tonbridge for 18months after moving down from London, now in Tunbridge wells. Tonbridge is a bit run down and not great for things like nice restaurants and shops. we decided it wasnt for us. the high street is pretty rough.

it does have good schools and transport links though.

Thanks for your response BumbleNova. DH needs to get to London for work. Its just the shorter commute that's swinging it for us towards Tonbridge.

Slade primary is very popular and has a tiny catchment area. I don't know but is probably worth giving them a call.
Tonbridge is a bit run down but I think that will change. It has become very popular because it is so good to commute from. This means that many local people can no longer afford to buy there without a London salary. Give it a few years and it'll be more like Sevenoaks.
We were renting there and were very happy. There is lots to do and it is a very convenient location for many things.
