Toilets without a button.....

In the past we have had so meny issues with push button flushes that when we start our extention and renovations in the new year im keen to try and avoid them. Does anyone know of a reasonably modern simple toilet with a leaver flush? I can only seam to find traditional ones or very expencive (like £400). Failing that a brand of push button that is very reliable?

When I went window shopping for bathrooms, I asked the person in the showroom if I could have a handle fitted to the loo. (I complained they were obviously designed by men as they are a pain when you have long nails).

They said you just ask to have a handle fitted instead of a push button; it is no problem.

Perhaps worth asking in a showroom? Might be some cheaper models where you are stuck with a button, but didn't seem to be a problem when I asked about it.

Nowadays instead of small pushbutton (get brokwn easily, kids and older people find it difficult to operate), people usually use large panels with very large buttons like this:

I didn't use to like the aesthetic but it's very practical to use and easy to clean.

Thanks shortlass asked today and they said no but will check with our plumber. I prefer the bigger buttons but hate concealed cisterns as had 2 leak and wreck floors!

you would probably be able to buy a new cistern and fit it to your existing pan. If both are white it should look OK.

In most cases you have a close-coupled WC (the cistern stands on the back of the pan). Some are low-level (short, bent plastic pipe between cistern and pan)

If you want to browse, I'd start with Twyfords and Armitage catalogues, or help line. They are so well-established that I'd expect any dealer or plumber to be able to order one.

Thanks pigletjohn i didnt know i could buy seperatly will look into it. One bathroom has a cream suite so all has to go and the en-suite will be new so will also have to buy pans to match..
