Tile buying....

Can somebody please help me in deciding how many sq mtrs of tiles I need to order if, for example, the area to cover is 4.4sq mtrs.
I've read 10% excess so would I order 5 or 6 to be on safe side?
So confused Hmm

Is your area approximately 2m by 2m ? (4 sq metres which is quite small) or 4m by 4m (16 sq metres)?

Sorry if it's a silly question but I've muddled the two before and only corrected myself in the shop.

If you are doing 4sq metres then depending on the pack size (you might have to buy in whole metres), 1 more sq metres will probably suffice (unless the space is going to be very fiddly to cut).

If 16 sq metres then another 2 ?

What are you tiles and how are you laying them? Size of tiles and size of room?

10% plus the next box up.
check if you can return unused boxes.
make sure you buy boxes from the same batch.

It depends on the shape of the area and size of tiles. You'd need to estimate if there are likely to be many offcuts or not (more if awkward spaces, fancy shape tiles etc). Overall, I'd hope that 5m sq would be plenty in most cases.

Decide on the tiles you want and note their measurement.
Measure height and length of area to be tiled.
Go to B and Q website and tap in search for tile calculator.
It will do the calculations for you.
Or.....there are several free apps around that will do the same.
