Replacement wireless thermostat

We have a Worcester Bosch combi boiler and a wireless thermostat. Except I dropped the thermostat and it doesn't work properly any more. Do I need to replace it like for like or will any wireless thermostat do the trick?

No, you need the sender and the receiver to be matched, generally the same make and model. You may be able to buy a new sender and bind it to your receiver, but look up the instructions before you buy one. The instructions should explain how you link the transmitter and the receiver.

It's worth trying that with your old one before you bin it anyway. Also fit new batteries (not Duracell).

Thank you.

Incidentally, why not Duracell?

the Duracell tip is a slightly non-standard shape and in some items does not give good contact.

I did not know that!

Would you recommend any particular battery?

Thank you

Nope.

I usually buy a box of Alkaline batts from Maplin in a couple of sizes, they last me a couple of years (came out well in Which and are cheap). They sometimes have an offer on a combined order of 2 or more sizes. It's mostly torches and radios.

IIRC Aldi and Lidl also came out well.

For anything that I want to last for years and years, Energiser Lithium batts.
