I am thinking of buying a pair of sofa.com sofas, there are some good discounts with them till Monday. They get good reviews generally however while looking at the sofa.com ebay shop, I have seen some second hand sofa.com sofas, they aren't that old but the cushions look really flat and tired.

So my question is how do your sofa.com sofas look after a couple of years? My current sofas are knackered but they have had ten years heavy use and owe me nothing!

I've had mine for 5 years and they still look the same.
I just turn the cushions and plump them every so often. They are removable too, so can be washed.
Mind you I don't have young children or pets!

Oh thank you SilverBat, just what I wanted to hear! They will be in our only living room so will be well used!
What material do you have? I'm torn between velvet and the linen cotton. I will have them guardsman protected if I go for velvet.

I know what you mean - we have one that we bought about 6 months ago. However as the PP said, regular turning sorts it out quite effectively. I try to do it once a week but it would probably be wise to do it daily if you want to maintain the "plump" look.

We bought a velvet snowdrop sofa about 18 months ago. It's in our main living room so is used daily. Mix of tweens, teens and adults in our house and it still looks like new! We love it.

We've got 2 Saturdays, only had them about 6 months but they're holding up well. Paid for Guardsman too.
I think ours are cotton linen.

I'm very happy with mine. Does need plumping, but it's very comfortable. It's about 4 years old. Sofa.com are very helpful in delivery too. I would buy again.

Oh Champagnetastes, this is what I want to hear.

Pistachio, what colour velvet do you have, did you pay for the protection?

Thanks both for your feedback!

We have had ours for around 8 months I think. It's sunshine cotton velvet. Feels lovely and comfortable (I turn regularly). I DO have young dc but have them very well trained (threatened Wink) into the no drinks/food/mucky hands on the sofa.

We'll see how it holds up post dc4's imminent arrival! Hmm

Fwiw customer service/delivery team were super helpful and efficient.

Gosh, Thank you for all this positive feed back, sofa.com it is!

Just got to decide which fabric, I'm thinking the 'isla' sofa.

Our stella sofa is really comfy BUT it's an absolute PITA turning the cushions. They're really big and heavy so, eg my mum with her sore neck can't turn them when she stays.

The bottom cushions slip out constantly and basically need lifting and putting back on and turning every day. They're five years old and the velvet looks pretty shit after lots of spillages, despite the protection.

I've put anti-slip mats underneath, but they still go.

Also, check the measurements, ours are really long on the bit you sit on so you can't sit on them with your feet on the floor IYSWIM, you have to kind of climb onto them and tuck your feet up. That's fine for us, but the grandparents tend to need a few cushion at their back to sit normally.

Actually, thinking about it, I hate them! Want to buy some Stella sofas?

Mines the herringbone cotton linen, had it scotch guarded, a friend dropped red wine on it, and it came off easily. Although because I've washed them it's probably not protected now, but still doesn't look grubby.
Mine looks like the Isla, they must have changed the arms slightly.
I'm 5'4 and have just sat with my back on the cushion and feet on the floor, if that helps.
They do a no quibble return service too, which I think is brilliant. I ordered the armchair too at the time, but I didn't like it, so they picked up and refunded really quickly.

Definitely get guardsman protect! We have had two sofas from them for about 5 years now, they have worn well but we went for a light grey and they have definitely "yellowed" with age/human/dog grubbiness. When OH spilt red wine on our sofas, it came off the first time but the second time we had to get replacement covers through the guardsman insurance.

Well worth the money and we will rebuy with them only go for a darker colour next time!!

Oh thank you for all the feedback, sorry to hear about your Stella yoink, I will avoid that one! Though to be fair all my sofas have had a tendency for the cushions to creep forward.
Definitely going to get the guardsman, good to hear that they do honour the guarantee.

We went for the teal velvet and yes we did pay for the guardsman protection. I can send you a picture if you'd like.

We try and enforce a strict "no eating on the sofa rule" - not always that easy with teens. There have been a couple of marks on it but they've wiped off relatively easily so haven't had to use the insurance policy yet!

I would love a picture thanks pistachio, teal velvet is on my shortlist.

We're going to the showroom tomorrow, so need to make a decision then. The current offer is two lots of 10 per cent plus 100 when you buy two items so too good to miss!

I couldn't work out how to send these to you directly but here are a couple of photos. I think this is actually called turquoise on their site.

Hope this helps.

Hi we have the bluebell large & small sofa in the Belgian linen, had for nearly two years still looks like new, but I do plump cushions everyday & turn weekly, second the fab delivery service & if you choose a popular model/fabric, can usually deliver near enough straight away.
Highly recommend.

We love them! We've got 2 beds, 2 sofas and a chair from there.
The sofa in our kitchen which is heavily used and still looks great 3 years on
It has removable cushion covers, which I managed to shrink in the wash (they are technically dry clean only...) but they sent me a new set of covers for free, so 10/10 for customer service.
We've also got a velvet chair which we paid extra to have scotch guarded but it has picked up quite a few stains and marks a few years on. So don't go for velvet!

The beds are also excellent and very well made.

I have an interior designer friend who swears by them as well, and says they are the best value for money of anywhere she knows

Ah just seen you are going for velvet... Blush
Ours is light grey, which has been unforgiving with wear and tear. A darker colour might weather better...

Oh pistachio your sofa and your room is beautiful, can you come and design my room:). Will show my OH as he is pushing for a a more neutral colour.
Thanks to the other posters, I'm not set on velvet but if I do was going for a dark colour.

Well thanks to all your feedback I have placed my order!

I went (eventually) for some brushed linen cotton. I have purchased the fabric protection as it is quite light.

It's a bit late, but just wanted to add to the positives!

We've had our current bluebell sofa for three years and it looks like new! Got the guardsman spray on it and that has protected it very nicely.

Covers also dry clean well after the odd pet accident.

This is the second sofa.com sofa we've had (sold the first as decided to get a bigger sofa. Really good resale value, actually, we sold it for a decent price) and I am really impressed with them. Excellent customer service, too.

Just a quick update, my two Islas in stone are here and I love them!
Thanks to all the advice that helped me decide.

I did love the bluebell too, but love the fact that the isla had fully removeable covers and a slightly more contemporary look than the bluebell.
