Which blinds for a study?

We are redecorating the study /computer room (aka the box room upstairs). I think blinds would look sleeker than curtains. I think Roman blinds look nice. DP thinks this would block out too much light as you can't completely roll them up so has suggested roller blinds instead. I think these look great in a bathroom but not for a study. Which kind of blinds would you have and why? Would roller blinds look OK in a study? Or would you have curtains?

We have got sheer roller blinds in our study (a bit like this)
It is a south facing room so the blind stays down pretty much all the time. It stops people seeing in, keeps the room cooler and lets in light without direct sunlight causing too much damage to books.

If it's a computer room is it not more important to control sun glare? We have a roller blind in ours only because it was there already. If we redecorate I would go for plantation blinds because then you can get more precise control on sunny days.

I prefer roller blinds to curtians for a study - more sleak. Would get pale non-black out ones so that if you get direct sunlight on the room and need sun shade you can have them closed but it not be too dark inside.

Plantation shuters are amazing and would be my first choice for every room if the style of house suite - but are £mucho v a roller blind.

Cream or white wooden Venetian blinds would be a cheaper option than a plantation shutter and it would be a good option to keep out glare whilst still allowing in light.

Lots to think about - thank you!

Do shutters/ Venetian blinds not get very dusty? My only experience of Venetian blinds were some cheap ones I took out of our kitchen because they got so dusty / sticky and collapsed every time I tried to clean them...computers seem to generate a lot of dust! I suppose washing curtains can be a faff too...

We've got painted wooden Venetians in a downstairs loo, they're great because you can have them on tilt to let some light in during the day or fully closed.
Not really noticed the dust particularly.
