What fabric to cover a kitchen chair with?

I have a lovely mid century kitchen chair that I want to do up.

The frame is metal and the seat and back is covered in a waterproof material - which I think may be vinyl?

I want to replace this material, but I am unsure what to use. I have looked online for vinyl fabrics, but the choice is limited to fake leather look or really naff patterns. Could I use acrylic fabric do you think? PVC? Please help me, I haven't really got a clue what I am doing.

Oooh, forgot to mention. It must be wipeable. Thanks.

Oil cloth? Lots of different patterns and colours available online and in Dunelm and JL.

I would suggest oilcloth too. Tinsmiths has some nice fabric in at the moment.

Go with a good quality oilcloth - cath Kidston do some lovely ones or Dunelm, Laura Ashley or local garden centre!

Definitely oil cloth. John Lewis or Dunelm are great.
