Conventional Boiler help

Just bought a new house and it has a conventional Boiler. There's no instructions, so have found some online, but I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get hot water and also how often do you switch yours on for water? Does the water stay hot after you've turn it off?

Do you mean you have a hot water cylinder? What colour is it?

Try an hour for a start. If modern, less. If old, could be more.

Post some photos.

Look for these things

on the cylinder

near the pump

Do you mean a condensing boiler? Or combi boiler?

The former means the boiler heats water In one go rather than as you need it. You'll likely have a tank somewhere which will store pre heated water.

The later means it heats water as you need it with no storage facility.

The boiler should operate the heating as and when you need it ( temp drops below a certain temp) in both systems.

All modern domestic gas boilers are condensing, which improves their efficiency.

Some of them are combis, some are conventional, some are system boilers.

A combi does not need a cylinder to provide hot tapwater, and usually does not have one. The others do.
