Best material for a white kitchen worktop

Hi,
We want to put a white worktop in our kitchen but we cook a lot with turmeric and I'm always putting hot things on the worktop. For that reason we've ruled out corian and granite but what are your experiences with quartz and ceramic?

Failing all this anyone got a slate worktop? If we can't find a white worktop which is heat resistant and stain proof then might go for a lighter unit and dark worktop and have slate.

White, marble look Quartz here. Totally bomb proof.
I got loads of samples and put lemon juice, turmeric, red wine & coffee on for 24 hours, they all came off with Ciff.

Thanks!! Is it heat proof too? Do you remember the name of it? We're after marble effect too

Ours is Silestone but the samples were all different brands and they all seemed the same.

Silestone is brilliant, I have it. It is not bombproof however. It will possibly shatter under extreme changes of temperature. Any cuts (if doing yourself or using an independent fitter) rounded corners on all the cuts to reduce the stress. They won't entertain breakages on straight corners.
They also have a test that can work out if you've placed something very hot on it which has damaged it.
I use Cif Actifizz which was recommended by the rep, but don't leave it on.
We use Rock Revelations.

Bump Bump. I am thinking about slate too. I live in Fife, and wonder where in Scotland you can get slate worktops?
