Which trades do I need?

Our house seems to be falling apart around us. We've got several jobs that we need to get sorted but we are pretty clueless and don't have anyone practical in the family who can help.

We've identified the following jobs which need doing.

  1. Repair or replace (probably replace) our electric shower, which appears to have sprung an internal leak. Plumber or electrician?

  1. Mend (or replace) the guttering around the roof. Can the same tradesman also check the roof itself and our chimney stacks for maintenance issues?

  1. We have several cracks, some deep, some just flaking plaster, in our lounge, which also needs decorating. Do painters and decorators generally also do plasterwork?

  1. We have a damp patch where paint is flaking off the underlying plaster on the chimney breast in our bedroom. I am hoping that the guttering/roof/chimney stack pointing will sort it out but who should take a look at it to give an opinion?

  1. We'd like to get an outside tap fitted so we can use a hosepipe occasionally without running it off the kitchen tap. Builder or plumber?

I'd love to have a go-to plumber/builder/decorator like my in laws have (in a city 400 miles away so can't use theirs unfortunately). Do people still do this? Or do you use someone different for each job?

2,3,4 you need a roofer. They can do all of 2 and appraise the roof but also you need to find out if it's leaking and if this is causing the plaster damage etc. Dp is a roofer that's how I know

Thanks for that. We've been told that the cracks in our lounge are most likely caused by a vine outside which we are getting rid of, but as one goes through the wall it might be a bit much for a decorator.
