Ikea's synthetic rugs: are they a nightmare to clean?

I lived in a house with synthetic carpets everywhere and the only way to get hairs off them was with a damp rubber glove - Henry Hoover didn't stand a chance. I need to buy a rug for under a desk and am tempted by Ikea's "Durable, stain resistant and easy to care for since the rug is made of synthetic fibres". Are they better than the ones I previously lived with in terms of cleaning??

Firstly I have 5 ikea synthetic rugs and there all in perfect condition - had some 5 years... secondly I have cream synthetic carpets because they don't stain and they have been down 2 years with a messy todler and they are still in perfect condition? I have 2 Dyson hoovers one corded and one wireless answer never had a problem there lovely and brought them again for another house we just purchased :)

When I lived in the house with the synthetic carpets I had a Dyson - it went to the dump when I moved out, but maybe it's failing was the fault of the carpets. So, I'm none the wiser! It's a toss-up between a sisal rug or a synthetic.....
