That's it! Which would you choose and why?

Ours will be a painted kitchen with white marble effect countertops (quartz lagoon to be specific).

We have painted kitchen and lagoon and have 30mm. 20 wouldn't look right I don't think..

We have 30mm on a painted kitchen - similar worktop too.

I find it quite slim, in fact before I measured it now (for you) I could have sworn it was 20mm.

I can post a picture if you like.

What style of kitchen do you have? I'm having a painted, handless kitchen and was advised 20mm for a more modern look. Can't tell you what it looks like as it is yet to be installed. The 30 mm looks great so I hope my 20 mm looks ok too!

We have 20mm because I wanted no window sill, and the worktop to go all the way to the window. Definitely slightly more modern looking:

Mine is 20mm but have a handless German kitchen so I think the 30mm would have been too chunky for us.

Our cabinet doors and drawers are about 18mm thick so it works for us.

I think if you have thicker doors then the 30mm would be a better balance.

Lizzie, your kitchen is gorgeous. Are the units grey or green-grey?
Do you know what the quartz colour is? -so I can copy you-

The paint is a Farrow and Ball, Purbeck stone.

The worktops are in silestone, I think we went for Lyra though we also looked at Lagoon.

Lizzie agree your kitchen is lovely ...Where did you get your units from? and they are obviously wood if they are painted ??

That came out wrong ....are your units wood ? We want to avoid the foil wrapped types that are around and doing lots of research ! Thanks

5amisnotmorning I love your kitchen, where is it from?

I think the thinner is more contemporary, but we went with 30mm on a handless kitchen because we have an induction hob so needed the extra depth for it.

We have a painted, handleless kitchen with 20mm silestone and I think 30mm would have looked a bit chunky - but our worktop is a dark colour so that may make a difference. I hadn't realised you need 30mm for some induction hobs - we have induction so that's useful to know for when we have to replace it.

We have a Siemens induction job in 20mm Compac Quartz.

Hi jigster01, the kitchen is hand painted (watched the man do it on-site) so the doors are wood though the carcasses might not be, I'm not sure about that.

It was a bespoke kitchen from a small place in Scotland. I can pm you the details if you wish.

Thanks Lizzie. ..we're in London so a bit too far Grin I always wanted black granite but have seen lots of very light coloured units with white quartz etc and think it looks very classy so have set my heart on that !
