Anyone live in Berkhampsted or sourounds - come talk to me

So DH has been going on for ages about moving out of London and recently has been going on about Berkhamsted.

So if you live near/there can you tell me about it? State Schools, where's nice to live, where is good to shop, commute to London (Waterloo if that makes a difference) pros and cons.

I really don't know what I think about it and am going to visit for the first time tomorrow but need my trusty m'netters to fill me in pls.
