Grove Park? SE12

Hi - I'm looking to move to Grove Park by the station with my husband and our small child. Does anyone have any insight in that area i.e., primary schools, crime? The transport links to the City seem pretty good.

Hi Op I know it a little, not a great deal of amenities ie local shops/library/leisure traffic is fairly relentless & that train line is not that great either though, depends I suppose on where you need to travel to.
Quite a few primary schools in the locality but have no experience of them, so cant comment, it's a bit rough & quite deprived tbh wouldn't be somewhere would actively choose to live.

The schools are not great - primary or secondary. Where are you now? Other parts of Lewisham are nicer. Catford is improving rapidly and has some decent primaries.

Thanks. I live in Hither Green now but renting so looking to buy. I work in Canary Wharf and my husband works in the City. Our budget is 400k-ish, any recommendations?

I go through Grove Park on the train. They never get a seat, sometimes don't even get on the train. I don't know the area but I am very glad I live that tiny bit further out as they never look happy! Sorry! Hopefully someone will come along with something nicer and more helpful than commuter hell stories.

I looked at houses there before settling on my eventual destination. Thought it looked fine if rather dull. Though the centre a tiny bit grim have been past this pub which looks nice? baringhallhotel.com/ If I were you I'd just try and live as close to station as poss so as to try and get in and out early.

Hi op maybe have a look at Penge, on the east London line, good schools/parks/ leisure facilities, high street is a little scruffy but good for everyday needs, has an excellent butcher & Turkish deli.
Worth a look.

Just reading through the comments, the trains have definately improved since 2016! The trains are newer, there's more frequent services and I can get a seat most days (maybe not on Mondays unless I am quick :D). But great connection into London, my partner and I go on transport during peak time and usually have no problems (unless it's the usual british transport where there's too much heat or rain and trains seem to struggle lol!)

The schools are great, baring hall hotel is under new management and has a great history attached to it. Good food and good atmosphere. They regularly bring in craft ales and have a great weekly Wednesday Pub Quiz that's definately worth going to.
