New(ish) to home owning and still getting our heads around not just calling the agent who sorts out all problems. Also new(ish) to our area so haven't yet found the lovely local handyman who can help in most situations...
This morning the pin fell out of one of the front door hinges, and as I went back inside to see what had dropped on the floor, the pieces of the hinge have fallen slightly out of alignment. Not great but not a disaster - door did at least shut and lock, and we can use the back door until it's fixed.
Hopefully the pin might slide back inside and last while we consider whether the whole door needs replacing - old wooden door, I've wanted a new one for a while now - but I suppose it might need a new hinge. This is where I'm wary, as it's an old door with about 38 coats of paint on it so replacing a hinge might not be that straightforward (in terms of lining up the holes etc) and I really don't want us to take the whole door off and then be unable to rehang it at all.
If we can't replace it and can only wedge it shut, is this a locksmith job, or a general chippy?
Ta!

A rather stupid question, but what sort of tradesman might I need here?
