Back boiler problems

Hi I have a back boiler that has been fine the 5 years I've been here. Whenever I turn the heating on you can hear the boiler fire up, radiators get hot until I turn the heating off.
However the last couple of days whenever I turn the heating on. I hear the firing up and the radiators get hot, after an hour or so I hear the boiler fire up again, then ten minutes later the same thing. And it carried on. While this is happening most of my radiators are cooling down to the point that it's useless to have them on.
I watched the flame to see what happens, it had fired up and stayed like that for 3-4 minutes then turned off to just the pilot light then after a minute or so it flames back up to the big flame then a few mins later back to the pilot light.
So the pilot light stays on it just doesn't stay fired up.
I use the radiators for drying clothes and my tumble dryer recently broke and having to wrap my son up in blankets so any quick advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Baxi Bermuda? Assuming it is (baxi sold millions of these) does it have a perminant pilot light that you occasionally relight yourself or does it have automatic ignition.

These boilers are practically bomb proof. The only thing worth checking on the boiler is that the thermostat hasn't been left turned down.

If you crouch down as if about to relight the pilot you should see an orange dial. If memory Serves it will be numbered from 1-6. Check it's not been turned down.

The only other thing you might want to check is that the header tank hasn't run dry. It will be in the loft and will usually be made of black plastic. It will have a ball valve within. Just check that this tank has water in it.

If it doesn't a little push down on the ball will get the water back into the tank.

The most likely cause is the pump. I wouldn't mess around trying to check this.

The dial is turned up to high so most likely the pump in the loft? I will have to get someone out then I guess??
Thanks so much for replying

Good luck. Worst case senario expense wise with a back boiler would be the pump. Out of interest does the hot water work?

I haven't tried the hot water for days but now I'm slightly worried.
I've not long got off a night shift but will try it later and get back to you, thanks
