Floor for bathroom with wooden panelling?

I'm trying to decide what to have in our bathroom.. realised we don't have quite the budget we'd hoped for so looking for ways to create beautiful, pretty and timeless bathroom on a budget.

We're going to have a separate shower cubicle and a double ended bath. I've been looking at mdf T&G panels to create a wooden panelling effect (like in the pic attached) but what flooring would you have? I've had a look and I don't like the look of oak floor with the painted panelling, but also have a dislike for white tiled/tile effect floor with it. Was thinking of getting a vinyl that looks like white floorboards, thought that could work with white panelling (see pic)? Then the walls would be painted a colour (not sure yet!)..

..but then what to do in the shower cubicle? Get tiles to match the colour of the walls? Or white to match the panelling?

Any suggestions or opinions about the above much welcomed!

Or should I have coloured panelling and white walls? The room is quite small and has no windows so don't want to reduce how light and airy it looks!

I think the white floorboards effect would look best if the panelling were painted a colour and the walls above white. With white panels a greyish one might look better.

If you're going for a traditional looking suite, like the one in your picture, then vinyl or lino with a traditonal pattern like this might work, or you could mix it up with a trendy geometric design (check out the Cube It designs at Burts Vinyl Flooring - it won't let me link for some reason)

Thanks Tremolo I think I agree with you about the panelling being painted if the floor is going to be white. Thanks for your other flooring suggestion too!

We have just had our bathroom revamped in a very similar style. Our panelling has been painted a grey / green colour and tiles are white metro tiles ( I know they are a bit on trend at present, but in my defence they are in keeping with the period feel!) with grey grout. Our floor is slate effect vinyl. Overall look is fab.

I'd keep the tiles white and paint the panelling with a colour, then you can change the whole look with just a lick of paint.
