We have made an offer on a house. How long should we expect to wait for a response? It's been 4 hours so far, the wait is killing me!

Oh Lord, a couple of days is common. Good luck.

Could be a couple of days if your offer is decent and the house has had plenty of interest.

More usually you'd get a response by the following morning. If the owners are a couple who need to discuss it before making a decision, they might not be able to speak until after the estate agent's office has closed.

Oh really? That actually makes me feel better, felt like I'd waited a long time. Thank you.

you'll need to learn a little more patience further on. I'm all for chasing things up but this is the biggest decision of many people's lives, so I would expect overnight at the very least.

Shatners thank you too. That makes sense that they would need to discuss tonight. I just need to be more patient.

Don't wait, keep looking at other houses, and make an offer on a nicer one if you see it.

You have to kiss a lot of frogs.

Thank you all. Just to up date our offer was accepted. I have a bit more waiting ahead of me though I think.
