Changing the colour of kitchen tile grout

Our new house has the blandest kitchen in the whole world. Everything is cream and whilst neutral is good if you are an estate agent, it is not very us. The tiles are cream square with matching grout and very dull. I was considering changing to dark grey grout to give a little contrast but the only pictures I can find are of metro style tiles which obviously have a very different look anyway. If we go ahead with changing it then I will dig the grout out and get a tiler to re-grout it because it will look crap if I try it but I was thinking of trying a bit out with a grout pen to see what it would look like. Does anyone have any experience of using these? I would obvs test it on a hidden area out of the way first.

Here's a picture of tiles with grey grout.

And you could easily grout them yourself - I find that I do a better job than tilers do.

Thanks Primal. Our tiles are more of a rich cream than that. I'm not sure I dare risk doing the grouting myself. I'll happily cut the old grout out but I get bored easily and we have a lot of tiles and I have a tendency to get slapdash when bored... :)

I regrouted my bathroom once, raking it out is hellish!!
I recommend getting a tiler to Tile straight over the top with something you like.
I worked in a well known tile shop for close to a decade. Get the tiler to buy the tiles if you go down that route. They get the decent prices. Wink

I don't think we would be able to tile over them. The big range cooker is right next to them and an extra layer of tiles wouldn't work. Lots to think about...
