Where to move?

We are looking for a house around Eltham/ New Eltham area. Then we have found one 3 bed in Eltham. Downstairs are spacious living/dining area with a modern kitchen. 2 double bedroom 1 tiny single room and a modern bathroom upstairs. the school network is very nice. However, the garden is quite steep, so not many space that the little one can move around.

Then we found a 5 bed in Mottingham. Nice flat garden, spacious 4 bedroom and 1 small bedroom.

Anyone lives around this area that you can give us an idea what Mottingham is like? Probably Eltham is more developed, but I think Mottingham is up and coming as well. It would be a great help if you can tell us anything about these areas.Grin

There are a few nice bits of Mottingham, but sorry, they are outnumbered by the not nice at all bits. Hopefully someone who knows the area better than I do can provide better information. My information is based on several friends of friends who moved there and lived to regret it.

Hi agree with pettswood, friends live in mottingham some nice parts, but lots of not so nice, lots of research needed , also Eltham can be very hit or miss & a bit English defence league in some parts.

Thank you ladies, we went for a flat viewing at Mottingham, the first impression of the high street wasn't good. The high street is quite small but a bit doggy...

Anyone knows if the nursery and primary schools are at Eltham?

The only positive with Mottingham is that is close to Chislehurst which is a gorgeous location to live IMO.

The high street in Eltham is pretty good and there are some lovely roads with huge period properties in. My friend lives there and has done all her life her children attend Gordon school which she is more than happy with.

In fact she has just told me that the best schools are Gordon School, Deansfield School and Roper Street and the best catholic school is St Mary's xx

Oh gosh, just looked at the properties online and they are expensive in chidlehurst! Our budget is around £450 so hopefully we can still find something nice:(

Oh yes Chislehurst is another level! But Mottingham sits right on its borders so my friend who lives in Mottingham gets to use Chislehurst village and mingle with the posh folk haha.

Thanks the information! its really useful! How about Bromley compare to Eltham? I think one good thing about Eltham is that it still has the London postcode so the price rises quicker in long term.
