vehicular cross over right next to pedestrian crossing?

Hi, has anyone had a vehicular cross over approved by the council (in London) in order to allow parking in their front garden with a pedestrian crossing being right next to it? It's not a zebra crossing and has no lights-it's something like the picture shown though there are no street lights near by.
Our front garden is big enough for a car to park but one third of the front length is overlapped with the dropped kerb for pedestrians.
The council guidance does not say anything about restrictions regarding pedestrian crossings but I am hesitant to make £75 application only to have it refused.
Anyone had a similar situation?
Thanks

That is a pedestrian refuge. Might help you to use as a search term.

I just found some safety info on having a dropped kerb by a pedestrian refuge: you'd need to be able to turn a vehicle more than 90 degrees in a single movement. If the refuge blocks that, the application will be refused.
