Feeling anxious- can't find home to buy!

I know no one can help but just needed to vent!! It's taken us a long time to sell out house and we finally accepted an offer about 5 weeks ago. I know things may still fall through but theoretically if all goes well we could be moving out of this home fairly soon! Typically, since accepting the offer, all the houses we have been stalking on RightMove have sold, taken off market etc. nothing on rental. We are fairly tied to small area due to needing to get my daughter into local school. We thankfully can move in with parents but only short term due to space! We are thinking of sending letters out to homes on the streets we like! Has anyone tried that?

I'm in exactly the same position :-(
We've been looking since April and still have found nothing. It's driving me crazy. X

Not meaning to sound negative, but it took me 2 years and 3 lost buyers until I found a house to buy. I was looking as narrow as 4 roads in total for the school catchment. The good thing is that I found in the end.

can anyone help me to tell me the best area to buy a house around London with outstanding schools especially grammar schools?

You can buy mine!

However, joking aside, talking to our EA (we're in the opposite position, found what we want, can't sell ours) people are so worried about this that they are waiting until they find to put theirs on the market and are therefore creating a massive blockage.

I think the market is really tricky at the moment, the post election boom has not really happened.

It's just so depressing, I have waited so long to be in this position and now everything's disappeared!! Stalking RightMove and local estate agents but it's so quiet in the areas we want. Sent out letters today to the streets that we like, a long shot but fingers crossed we might get a response!

You're so right about the state of the market. We're finally able to move after over 20 years in the same house and there is soooo little to choose from, and what there is all seems to have one huge compromise or another. I'm so afraid of getting it wrong when the cost of moving is so huge - OMG don't even remember paying stamp duty when we bought our current house! Shock Whole thing is so stressful.

I did the thing of putting the letters though the doors and am sitting typing in the house that we found that way! So it does work (sometimes)

I can't believe how little there is on the market. It's so bad that anything decent is selling within two days.
