Asking for a friend. If you pay a reservation fee and then (for a reason due to a decision the builder has made) you change your mind, can you get the fee back even if the paperwork says 'non-refundable'? My friend could do with some ammo.

Hi typing on the move but I think it is worth a go I have got it back for clients in the past subject some times to an admin charge See Consumer Guide for House Builders Who are Builders and how much is fee

Depends, ours was in increments if that makes sense.

2k reservation fee on a part ex, so £100 was immediately no refundable. Once the developer had paid for the survey on our house and drawn up offer contracts than it was £500 non refundable. On exchange the full 2k went toward the property cost.

That I thought was very fair.

Has your friend already paid it?

They had paid it but have now heard they got it back in full! Well done them.
