Looks like we're going to accept an offer on our house today, and make one which will be accepted on the house we want (yesterday's offer rejected but we know what they'll accept).

I've forgotten all the stuff that happens next! DH is pretty switched on with the financial side of things. I'll mostly do the organising.

Help me make a list of what I need to do please! Town is about 20 (rural) miles from where we are now. Good for our work but need new schools, nursery, childcare.

House-wise, next steps are;

Offer accepted
Solicitors instructed
EA sends Memo of Sale
EA collects info on chain (if any)
Survey takes place
Survey report received
Sol's start work, EA to chase regularly and keep all parties updated
Sols prepare contracts
EXCHANGE
Tying up loose ends
then usually 28 days later
COMPLETION - collect keys and move in

There's more to it than that, but that's the simplified version.

re; bits you will need to do outside of that, I did see a list somewhere on Zoopla....

....found it - try this;

moveplanner.zoopla.co.uk/?partner=1ff68mwl

Helpful checklist - there are other similar things out there too to help with areas that can easily be overlooked. Organising wise, use your smartphone to set reminders by using apps such as Google Keep;

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.keep&hl=en

For work I personally use a day-to-a-page desk diary in which I write pretty much everything as my life as an EA is mega busy so without it things easily get forgotten - it's a life saver.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the great list.

We've hit a hurdle already. Buyer has changed their mind...maybe....
