kitchen floor - which one?

Hi all,

we have just received the sample of our kitchen cupboards' doors, which will be in a beautiful, rich but not too dark walnut veneer. Unfortunately, it doesn't really go with the engineered oak floors we had planned to have in there (as well as in the rest of the house).

Now the choice is between a very lovely but much more expensive concrete micro topping: www.koubidesign.com/#!polished-concrete/c199t or perhaps another type of oak finish... maybe a limed oak, to keep things light and to contrast with the walnut? www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=limed+oak+floor

This change would be for the lower ground floor, where the kitchen, dining area and powder room are. The rest of the house will keep the original natural oak.

All floors are to have wet underfloor heating.

I was wondering what your choice would be based on our situation and your experience with concrete and wooden floors in kitchens, or maybe even micro topping/coating!

Personally I dont like mixing woods (in 2 such obvious places anyway), but I am probably a bit too matchy-matchy so feel free to ignore me!!

I agree that mixing woods isn't something I would go for. Sorry.

Thanks Sunnyshores and luxuriousblossom, I appreciate your honest opinion!

I thought that stuff like the attached photos wouldn't look too bad, but now I'm doubting everything! haha.

Any other opinion, insight or advice, mumsnetters?
