Would you have this dropped kerb done?

We have a large paved front garden. ATM 2 cars can get on and off easily using the existing dropped kerb. There's room for another 2/3 but you either need to drive over the pavement (illegal!) or move the other cars to get off IYSWIM.

I've looked at the council guidelines and think we will get permission but it would cost £1000 by the time we've paid the approved builders and the councils fees.

We don't "need" it. We only have 2 cars and in any case we don't have his and hers cars, we just use whichever is easiest/most appropriate for the journey. So, it would be used for occasional visitors or if DCs had cars in the future.

It would turn our frontage into a drive on drive off drive and make the new paving look finished IYSWIM. But, it's £1000. We could pay it but it's a fair amount of money to us. Would you do it?

Yes we did.
About 15 years ago now.
Parking in our road was becoming a nightmare.
Now I put my car on the drive & DH can park in front of the drive if no more space in the road & if one of our neighbours decides she won't overhang our drive by about a foot!

I would. It will discourage people from parking in front of your house. Unless you live near a school, then the selfish bastards will be happy to trap you in.
