Builders failing to turn up, again. RANT ALERT!

This is just a rant. Feel free to ignore it. My husband is not in the mood to hear it from me anymore...

I have been trying to get some building work done on my house for a year now. All the builders I contact either don't turn up to quote, or quote to do something else but not what I'm asking, and some just repeatedly don't turn up.

What am I doing wrong! I need this work done and just can't get a reliable builder to come and quote when asked then engaged to do the work. It's not a tricky job but it needs doing by a good reliable builder.

If I was a unreliable as these guys (who were all reputable businesses recommended to me) then I should be ashamed. Argh! It's so frustrating.

What can I do?

Have you tried posting your job on mybuiler.com? Builders that are interseted can then get in touch and you take it from there. You can also see reviews and their profile before you then invite a quote. When we were looking for builders for our extension we couldn't believe the lack of interest. Saying that, every other house around here seems to be having work done...

Yeah same here. Take time off, wait at home and they don't turn up (and the last one was a local builder with close to 10/10 on checkatrade with nearly a 100 reviews)...To be honest i'm just thinking i'd rather they showed their true colours right at the start than once i've hired them...Sorry i don't really have any advice! I'm just joining in the rant!
