Need plans for my new project - where to get them

I've never used an architect or whoever it is I need before.
I want to change the configuration of our bungalow, ie turn a really large (12 x 10) bathroom into two zones - a shower room/wc and a laundry area. I'd so like an additional door from a bedroom into the shower room.
Now I've had plenty of 'work done' on the various houses I've owned over the last 30 years it the recurring theme of these projects is 'it's ok, it'll do, it's not quite exactly what I visualised'. The main issue I think is that I've always gone straight to builders and to a certain extent 'made it up as I went along'.
I'd like this one to be different. I'd like to give any builder an exact specification of what goes where, and what finish is required. So I am thinking I should get some Plans drawn up.
Although quite a major project for me, it seems a bit small fry for a Proper Architect Person. Is there some other profession that could do this (who perchance might not be as expensive)?

Just talk to a local surveyor. They can draw up plans, they will know builders and oversee everything. I've done multiple jobs, including complete rebuilds and never used an architect. Surveyors are much more practical and cheaper Smile

Thank you both, I'll see if there are any local ones around. Only lived here 18 months so don't have much of a network yet. Of course I have rough plans I've done on squared paper (103 versions) but it's getting all he building regs right etc.
