so we finally have planning permission! Working drawings are being prepared and I am ready to start sourcing bathrooms/kitchen/flooring etc.

Does anyone have a good spreadsheet template they can recommend? I am useless with Excel so the easier the better for me

Thanking you muchly!

Hi Apetite! (MAM48 now Aesops here)

How are things progressing with your's? We are at the next stage at last and now going out to tender to builders. Not sure if we can get the project in for year end as that will be subject to availability. Hoping to get it started by May latest if not then we will be delaying until next spring.

Hi aesops formerly known as MAM! Congrats on gaining permission, that's always nerve jingling.

Well, we had multiple iterations of the inital draft and finally have gone in for planning permission. So we now play the waiting game. We won't build until this autumn but we are definitely building through winter if we get the permission this year. We have a v complicated build needing lots of steel beams so.....we'll see. You've got to the bit where you have big decisions: have you found your kitchen, bathrooms etc yet?

I went to a home show recently, it was quite useful in crystallising exactly how many hundreds of decisions we need to make!

It all takes such a long time. I've mentally settled in for the long haul.

Hoorah for you getting thus far. Our planning took longer than expected but it is done thank goodness. Yes to decisions on kitchen and bathroom, of course we picked the most expensive in both cases then came down somewhat when we realized the kitchen was £80k Shock bathroom £21k. Happy with both the design and brands now so all systems go.

Fingers crossed we find a superb builder and they can start before May!

I must say MN has been really useful along with being a complete pest to my neighbors asking them for tours of their recent extensions/new kitchens. Our road currently has 5 building extension projects happening so lots to compare with.
