undercoat for previously stained doors?

which undercoat would be suitable for painting over a door previously stained a mahogany colour; I hate the doors in our living room and want to paint them white to brighten the room but a test patch has shown the stain bleeding through the undercoat (wilko own)

hi, check out the Zinsser range. nothing gets through these primers!

cheaper ones are available, but don't work as well.
