Wallpaper! yay or nay!

In my quest, to find my perfect wallpaper for our lounge, i've now reached the point where i either settle on one or forget it. Yep, i've been to Homebase and B&M and come out (embarrassing hubby along the way) with 40+ samples!

Our lounge is just painted white at the moment (the way hubby likes it). Its okay i suppose but i feel there's no 'personality' to it - i'm hardly Mrs Personality myself, but i'd like to inject some warmth into our home! This is our first own home, we only rented before so couldn't put our own stamp on the other houses.

So the lounge is quite big, about 19 feet long and 14 feet wide. The wallpaper is to hung on the wall we face when we're sat down, on part of the wall that is about 11 foot long.

We've looked at lots of samples thanks to moi and have definitely decided that floral is out - we came close but now we've seen this:

Its 'Super Fresco' so its textured - have to admit, i've always thought they looked old fashioned, but this (I have a sample of this!!) is actually ok!

So, stripes? Horizontal or vertical? I don't mind statement wallpaper, but i don't wan't OMG! :)

I would do horizontal stripes. A bit more restful I think. Also stripes in similar colours can be interesting without being OMG iyswim.

I think you and I have different tastes HaveA - I couldn't live with that in my living room! Way, way too in your face for me. I like the living room to be restful and relaxing.

If you and your DH can't agree, why not just paint that wall a different colour?

For me, that makes my eyes go funny, but if you like it go for it! We're in a similar situation, first owned home, needs our stamp on it etc. So we have two walls painted roasted red in our living room :)

But....The wallpaper goes up tomorrow in our bedroom! Very excited. It's habitat texture look in moth if you want another wallpaper to consider Grin

Definitely a nay from me. Get the "stamp of character" via cushions, vases, candlesticks, or wall art and photographs.
