Steep, Froxfield, Langrish, Buriton, Droxford, Warnford

more cosmopolitan = Clanfield, the Meons, Hambledon

Thanks Talk -- do you think that west of A3 villages are prettier than those east of A3? Which is better vaue for money Hants or w Sussex

I know Hampshire better : because I work all over the county

East of the A3 is quieter
A friend lives just north of Goodwood and loves it there

but the traffic around Chichester is foul
then again the M27 across the bottom of the A3M was bleugh this evening

TBH it might be worth the "traffic" tab on Google maps for a few days to see where the roads are decent / not
and then look at houses

and in villages, check for a freehold pub, a shop, a school and a bus stop with a bus running after the New Year

Somethingtodo · 27/11/2014 18:07

Hi Talk thanks for that - I was thinking about the area around Goodwood do you know the names of any villages/hamlets? I wont be bothering with Chichester so the traffic will not be a concern.

When you said - "and in villages, check for a freehold pub, a shop, a school and a bus stop with a bus running after the New Year" is this so that I can avoid them as they would have convenience premium which we dont need to pay for?

Hiya,
No, they are a list of things you WANT if you want to live other than in a dormitory

sorry, not a Goodwood expert - but am having lunch with one tomorrow - will pick their brains :-)

Somethingtodo · 28/11/2014 03:13

Thanks Talk...appreciate that

Nice pubs around there. Fox Goes Free in Charlton (I think) is yummy.
Not sure about living round there. Gets v v busy during Goodwood days.

Somethingtodo · 30/11/2014 07:25

Thanks - that is exactly where I was thinking of -- I did a 20km charity walk around that area a few years ago and was gob smacked by the scenery...had a wonderful supper in that lovely pub garden (I could not remember what it was called).....soooo excited will get house hunting

Singleton - thats where my old gym friend lives and she loves it

TooMuchRain · 30/11/2014 18:18

I think Singleton would be great for location and services, though not sure how much of a village community there is and I would check flood history because last winter I remember Charlton was just a big pond

Somethingtodo · 30/11/2014 18:41

Did a recce today North Marden, Up Marden, Charlton, West Dean, Singleton - loved it worked out that we need to be close to A3 rather than A24 - also looked at Compton, The Hartings. E, N & Up Marden - were my fav
